There is a new, amended response to a lawsuit against American Airlines filed by an Austin family – after the airline backtracked from the original response. Th
by Adela UchidaFILE - In this photo provided by the law firm Lewis & Llewellyn LLP, an iPhone is taped to the back of a toilet seat on an American Airlines flight from Charlotte, N.C., to Boston, Sept. 2, 2023. Estes Carter Thompson III, an American Airlines flight attendant arrested on suspicion of trying to secretly record a 14-year-old female passenger using an airplane bathroom last September 2023, is being held in custody until his trial.
Both responses are trying to make the case that the crimes were not the fault of American Airlines. But the first one said the 9-year-old girl was negligent and should have known she was being recorded. The amended response does not say that it is still asking the court to order the girl’s family to pay for the airline’s attorney’s fees.
Lawyers submitted another response that does not blame the victim as a response but does ask the family to pay the airline’s attorney’s fees.Paul Llewellyn is the family’s attorney. “It remains to be seen whether and how this plays out to trial, but like I said, this issue this statement, they claim they care about the family, they take it very seriously. Actions speak louder than words,” he said.
