A magistrates court found that Toby Harman, a 37-year-old with a flat in Victoria, situated in the borough of Westminster, just minutes from Buckingham Palace, has been unlawfully letting out his property on Airbnb since 2013. He described the flat, which has racked up over 300 reviews, as a “cosy studio apartment in Victoria” with a hot tub.
“It’s illegal for council tenants to sublet their homes and we carry out tenancy checks, as well as monitoring short-term letting websites for any potential illegal sublets.
