UPDATE: An air quality advisory has been issued for the East Bay following a fire at the Port of Oakland, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District says.
"If the smell of smoke is present, it is important that Bay Area residents protect their health by avoiding exposure. If possible, stay inside with windows and doors closed until smoke levels subside. Set air conditioning units and car vent systems to re-circulate to prevent outside air from moving inside," the Bay Area Air Quality Management District said in a statement.The fire is confined to a single pile at the recycling yard, located at 1100 Embarcadero West.
Update #1: Fire is contained to a single pile. Engine 2 continues to put water on the fire. The Incident Commander requested the City of Alameda’s fire boat to support from the estuary. Incident is contained but not yet under control.
