JOHOR BARU: Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) plays a crucial role in eradicating poverty in the country, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Bandar Tun Razak MP and former deputy prime minister said that to date, there are 320,000 AIM Sahabat Usahawan, or micro-entrepreneurs, in the country, comprising single mothers from B40 and B50 groups whose income is RM5,300 and below.“AIM is close to me as it has started with the effort made by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim; I am fully aware of his effort to fight poverty in the country, besides ensuring our children have access to education,” she said.
She said this during a speech at the AIM Rewang Merdeka Programme at Padang Kampung Pasir, here, on Sunday .
