A gathering of celebrities, fashion icons, and art enthusiasts celebrated the debut of AI-generated artworks by filmmaker Bennett Miller at Gagosian Paris. Commissioned by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the collection, created using DALL•E, explores the intersection of technology and art.

Haute Couture Week, despite its glamorous distractions, is fundamentally a celebration of intricate craftsmanship achieved through human hands. It might then seem unexpected that many couture aficionados found themselves at Gagosian's gallery, raising champagne glasses to AI-generated artworks on the very first evening of the week. However, this convergence of art and technology was presented as an exploration of artistic possibility.

Derek Blasberg and Serena Cattaneo Adorno hosted a gathering of close friends to view the works of Bennett Miller, the renowned filmmaker behind Capote and Moneyball. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, commissioned Miller to create a series of artworks using an early version of their software, DALL•E. The result is a collection of colorless, film-like images that seem to bridge the past, present, and future. This exclusive debut attracted a diverse crowd: celebrities, supermodels, European aristocracy, and fashion designers. Karlie Kloss posed in front of a piece depicting a woman in deep slumber, while Michèle Lamy, Paris fashion's high priestess, engaged in conversation near a haunting image of a young boy diving into an unknown realm. Camille Miceli, Bianca Brandolini d'Adda, Jeremy Strong, Diana Widmaier, and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac were also among the attendees. The artist himself, Bennett Miller, moved gracefully among these groups, likely sharing his artistic vision. Photography, invented in 1922, and OpenAI, founded in 2015, both represent revolutionary advancements in their respective fields. This intriguing fusion of art and technology is on display at Gagosian Paris until February 22nd. As for AI's influence on couture, only time will tell.
