Ahsoka’s new lekku change addresses a big complaint from The Mandalorian, and it has also made life a lot easier for Rosario Dawson and the crew.

Ahsoka is officially changing the way that Ahsoka's lekku looks. When the Togruta first appeared in The Mandalorian, there was a scourge of complaints about the way that her lekku functioned, as the hair-like tails looked far too short, compared to her animated counterpart. Thankfully, as Ahsoka heads into her own show, the character is getting a much-needed upgrade.

The Ahsoka trailer has already revealed her new style, and the lekku already looks considerably longer and better. Speaking at Star Wars Celebration, where Screen Rant was in attendance, Rosario Dawson revealed that the new make-up and costume style uses a new technology that not only makes the lekku look more realistic, but it also makes it more effective. The time to apply her make-up is now only two hours, down from three and a half.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Why The Lekku Went Wrong The lekku in The Mandalorian are considerably shorter than they should be, owing to inferior technology and ease of use. With Ahsoka participating in several action sequences, she couldn't afford to keep getting caught by her own head-tails in live-action. Still, it made for a strange look for a character who has been growing her lekku since she first appeared.

With the lekku issue resolved, Ahsoka can start to look more like herself, and that is pretty important. For Togruta, their head tails mark their age. As Ahsoka has grown, her lekku have been growing with her. Reversing course helps to fix her unintentional de-aging, while also making her look much more experienced. Of course, the lekku issue didn't ruin Ahsoka's live-action debut, but it is nice to see her looking more like the Ahsoka of Star Wars: Rebels.

Ahsoka will feature the first non-human Star Wars lead, so it is important that they get the details right. The lekku is something that sets her apart from the rest of the universe. As long as it isn't overwhelmingly taxing for Dawson and the stunt coordinators, it is nice to see that Ahsoka will be featuring a more accurate version of Ahsoka's look.
