What's going on with the Great Mothers?
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Ahsoka's Great Mothers have generated a collection of critical mysteries for the Star Wars canon. Introduced in Ahsoka episode 6, this enigmatic trio of Nightsisters are featured greeting Morgan Elsbeth and her mercenaries who've traveled from another galaxy to finally recover the former Imperial leader Grand Admiral Thrawn.
8 Why Did Ancient Intergalactic Society Collapse? Ahsoka confirms the Nightsisters originally came from Peridea to Dathomir. It's also implied that intergalactic travel was far more common in the ancient past with Peridea being only one of several new worlds in this newly revealed galaxy along with Huyang confirming the purrgil's migration patterns being linked to multiple galaxies.
However, the Nightsisters' power is also why Palpatine orchestrated the Nightsisters' slaughter during the middle of the Clone Wars, understanding that they could one day pose a threat to his ascension. As such, he allowed his second apprentice Dooku and General Grievous to slaughter the Force witches, including their undead warriors.
