Originally introduced in George Lucas and Dave Filoni's animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series in 2008, Ahsoka's place in Star Wars canon seemed sure to be short-lived since Anakin was never said to have a Padawan in the movies; however, she miraculously lived through the clone wars and her story was eventually continued on Star Wars Rebels, revealing she was even alive after the events of the original trilogy.
Ahsoka Had More Jedi Training From a Skywalker Than Luke, Leia, and Rey Combined As Anakin's Padawan, Ahsoka was trained as a Jedi by a Skywalker for several years during the Clone Wars. Luke and Leia obviously never had any training from him, and Rey had just a few days of training with Luke and about a year of training with Leia. Rey obviously has an important relationship to the Skywalker family, but it's nothing like Ahsoka's.
Ahsoka's future still isn't clear, and Dave Filoni has even suggested Ahsoka is still alive during the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, so she could still have a big role to play in the future of Star Wars canon long after the Ahsoka show, possibly even crossing paths with the newest Skywalker, Rey, as she tries to rebuild the Jedi order.
