Bob Jones High School sprinter Jordan Urrutia wins the Class 7A 400-meter dash in the AHSAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex. Defending state champions Hoover High School and Scottsboro stretched their big leads Friday as the 100th AHSAA State Outdoor Track and Field Championships closed Day 2 at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex.
Northridge’s boys hold a slim five-point lead over UMS-Wright in Class 6A with 44.5 points to the Bulldogs’ 39.75. Cullman is third with 29 and Homewood is fourth with 28.25. In Class 4A boys’ competition, defending state champion Brooks has 50 points with Hamilton second with 41 and American Christian third with 35.

Urrutia’s brother, Jordan, also won the 400-meters on Friday. The brother and sister combination of Jordan and Alivia Urrutia continued to dominate in the sprint events for Bob Jones High School. Alivia Urrutia, a junior, won the Class 4A 400-meter dash with a time of 56.47 seconds.
