It it widely believed that Barca are keen on the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's homecoming at the Camp Nou, despite some serious complications regarding the club's ability to bring in new players given their current state of finances.
Since president Joan Laporta took over from his predecessor Josep Bartomeu in August 2021, the club have adopted a transfer strategy that involves pursuing free agents in the market, with the likes of former stars Aguero and Memphis Depay, as well as current members of the squad Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie having all arrived on free transfers.
"My feeling is that there is a 50% chance that Leo Messi will return at Barça,” the former Manchester City talisman said, according to Fabrizio Romano."I think that Leo should retire at Barca. Barcelona is his home, he has to finish his career here.
