Pelantikan bekas ketua menteri Melaka itu berkuat kuasa hari ini sehingga tempoh 4 tahun bagi menggantikan Mohd Khalil Yaakob yang tamat tempoh perkhidmatan hari ini. Istiadat pengurniaan yang berlangsung petang ini turut disaksikan Perdana Menteri Muhyiddin Yassin dan isteri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.
