Ageing Gauteng hospitals’ infrastructure a cause for concern for NCOP
The National Council of Provinces is concerned about the poor maintenance of the ageing infrastructure at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and the delay in opening the section at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital that was gutted by fire last April.
The NCOP conducted oversight visits to both hospitals on Monday where they met with their management teams, high ranking officials from the Gauteng health department, the provincial department of infrastructure development, members of legislature and other stakeholders to take stock of the challenges to the delivery of health services to residents in the province.Subscribe to News24 for just R75 per month to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism.
