The lawsuit alleges that by destroying the razor wire fence, the federal government is destroying state property and not allowing Texas to properly enforce border security.
The Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, Gov. Greg Abbott’s office and the Texas Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.Earlier this summer, the Justice Department sued Texas over a 1,000-foot long string of buoys the Texas Department of Public Safety installed in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. Abbott said the buoys are meant to stop migrants from entering the state by simply swimming across the water.
