North Texas schools are staving off potential copycat attacks following the Uvalde massacre, which left 19 students and two teachers dead.

Police began investigating the threat and subsequently arrested the suspect.On Thursday, police were dispatched to an Arlington elementary school following reports of a shooting. Officials determined that a parent’s gun had accidentally fired and theSchools in other parts of the state are reporting similar occurrences.

It’s frightening and disconcerting that local school districts are having to experience these threats in the wake of what’s happened this week, Rena Honea, president of the Alliance-AFT teachers union, told theEven though she’s not opposed to the Second Amendment, Honea pointed out that 18-year-olds can buy such weapons when they aren’t even old enough to legally drink.
