After thumbgate/bumgate, my world moved at a snail-like pace for weeks. At the McDonald’s drive-through, when the cashier gestured for me to tap my card on the scanner fixed to the wall, I held in my groans and tilted my way towards it. When I was walking, and people in cars kindly stopped to let me cross a busy road, I worried that I appeared ungrateful. Instead of my exaggerated “jog-walk of appreciation”, I ambled slowly at the entitled pace my tailbone allowed.

Of course, I reserve my right to rage at people who stop in the middle of the aisle to chat with their friends. A little bit of squishing over to the left would be appreciated. Or the people who, while waiting in line for the cashier, seem to think that getting so close that we’re almost spooning will make the line move faster.
