While fireworks lit off the night sky in Columbus during Red, White and Boom! on Wednesday, law enforcement agencies covered every corner around the Scioto Mile

Last week Ginther announced changes that applied to the weekend of June 29-30, which included an increased police presence, both in uniform and plain-clothed, in the Short North. Ginther also said the neighborhood would get an increased amount of lighting and cameras.Short North community members told ABC 6 on Thursday they hope those safety and security measures are maintained.

"I think it will be maintained down here, especially because it’s been an issue over the years," Columbus resident Katee Calaway said. "I have been in Columbus for ten years, and it’s gotten worse."
