News 12's Thema Ponton is in Syosset as the school board meets to talk about NYSED regionalization plan and parents make strong and loud push for board to reject plan.At a contentious and emotional meeting Monday night, all the members of the Syosset Central School District Board of Education voted to opt out of the regionalization plan proposed by the New York State Education Department Board of Regents.
The decision came after a heated meeting that dozens of parents and community members packed into at South Woods Middle School. Syosset parents tell News 12 they are worried the plan would mean fewer resources for their kids and they would lose local control of their district.
