Temperatures could hit the mid 50s by New Year's Day, forecasters said.

Central Pennsylvania could see mid 50-degree weather to ring in 2023 — just a week after temperatures were in the single digits.Forecasters said Wednesday will be sunny, with highs in the mid 40s.

More sunshine is in store Thursday and Friday as temperatures hit the mid to upper 40s, forecasters said. Rain and 50-degree highs are likely New Year’s Eve, forecasters said. Showers are expected after 1 p.m. through the rest of the day. Central Pennsylvania could start 2023 with more rain and mid 50-degree highs.
