BREAKING: Police just ID'ed the 'Boy in the Box,' putting a name to a Philly mystery that has been unsolved for decades.

The area where the boy was found is now developed with homes. On November 30, sources confirmed with NBC10 police had finally identified the boy and found his birth certificate through DNA evidence.

"It was truly rewarding when Bob and I were finally able to put the proper name to this young boy," Santamala said."There were many years of hard work by many detectives and officers who sadly are no longer alive to see this day. I give extreme thanks to Captain Smith and Lieutenant Marshmond who supported Bob and I throughout this process and believed in us and provided us with whatever we needed.

More than six decades after a child was found dead and abandoned in Philadelphia, police have identified the "Boy in the Box" and are expected to reveal his name next week, sources confirmed with the NBC10 Investigators. NBC10's Claudia Vargas has the details.
