After two decades in the alcohol business, Diageo Chief Marketing Officer Syl Saller is retiring this summer.
Replacing Saller in July will be Cristina Diezhandino, global category director for scotch and managing director for Diageo’s luxury brands business. After joining the company in 1999 as marketing director, Saller spent the next five years focused on all aspects of marketing for brands like Guinness, Smirnoff, and Johnny Walker before becoming global innovation director in 2004. In that role, she spent nearly a decade launching new products and programs such as a “hackathon” for responsible drinking, a partnership with David Beckham to promote Haig Club Single Grain Scotch Whisky, and a Diageo Technology Venture for startups.
