The motherland continues to be a source of inspiration for fashion designers the world over, and yet several brands fail to acknowledge Africa for its boundless creativity and burgeoning luxury market. Even last week, supermodel Naomi Campbell lamented the fact that, "Africa has never had the opportunity to be out there and their fabrics and their materials and their designs be accepted on the global platform. It shouldn't be that way.
” While some thought leaders raised valid arguments against rallying for— stressing that Africa isn't monolithic and insisting there's no need for foreign approval — everyone agreed that it's about time the global fashion industry recognized Africa as a vibrant, cultural force.to see a dazzling display of memorable fashion moments straight from the motherland.
