Andrew Dillon is a veteran at AFL House, who many around the game thought was the natural frontrunner in the long drawn-out process.
, the AFL announced the game’s general counsel Andrew Dillon will become the next CEO.
Mr Dillon was formally announced at a press conference in Melbourne this morning. He has been AFL House for more than 23 years, working under several previous CEOs.The appointment comes off the back of a succession saga which has gripped the game. The current CEOThe AFL Commission has been running a process to find the next CEO, which has come under fire from senior officials and club presidents, unhappy with how long it took.
The Commission ultimately landed on Mr Dillon, who many at AFL House believe was the frontrunner from the beginning. The announcement of federal money for stadiums in Tasmania last weekend was seen as removing the final hurdle to name Mr McLachlan’s successor.
