Rival clubs believe Collingwood’s acquisition of former TLA boss Craig Kelly has given the AFL powerhouse an extra leg-up in its successful ploy to recruit Lachie Schultz from Fremantle, according to 7NEWS Melbourne’s Mitch Cleary. Kelly, who also played 122 games for the Magpies in the ‘80s and ‘90s, crossed from the management group to take the CEO role at Collingwood at the end of last year.
Collingwood land key trade target. And after overseeing a premiership at the club in his first year as CEO, Kelly may have already proven himself to be a contributor to Collingwood’s success on the field as much as off it. As Cleary explained on Tradies, Schultz is managed by TLA’s Jason Dover, who used to report to Kelly. “There are people at other clubs that I’ve spoken to that have joined the dots,” he said.
