Sofia Crociani, creative director of Aelis, presented a collection that challenged conventional notions of high fashion by incorporating antique dresses and delicate textures. The collection explored themes of softness, utility, and the passage of time, showcasing the beauty of vintage materials and celebrating the artistry of handmade garments.

Aelis creative director Sofia Crociani embarked on a quest to redefine the boundaries of high fashion, venturing into the realms of softness and utility. Her collection showcased delicate pieces that challenged the conventional paradigms of the fashion industry. Crociani's exploration took her back in time, featuring two antique dresses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, meticulously preserved and altered subtly to flatter the modern silhouette.

Despite their age, Crociani emphasized that these dresses were already imbued with artistry and craftsmanship, being handmade with vintage materials sourced from her extensive archives. For this collection, she incorporated vintage textiles, jewelry, and hardware, while ethically sourcing feathers to ensure no harm was inflicted on birds. The result was a collection of ethereal dresses that exuded a boudoir-inspired charm. Silks and tulle flowed gracefully around the body, rendered in a predominantly monochrome palette with subtle accents of velvet and bows, aligning with Crociani's romantic aesthetic. Many of the dresses featured unfinished hems, and one striking white dress with a black lace overlay displayed the delicate tears and stray threads, embracing the passage of time.Crociani acknowledged that the collection's emphasis on the fabric's history might be perceived as shocking, but she believed it was crucial to respect the ravages of time within a collection centered on delicacy. For menswear, she presented pieces of lace draped asymmetrically and stitched sparingly, evoking a sense of gentle fragility. A light sash draped over full skirts, for instance, demonstrated a simplicity in structure and form, paying homage to the historical garments of her Italian heritage. Elsewhere, a puff of feathers across the chest served as a subtle armor for the urban warrior, navigating the complexities of city life. Even the stark contrast of black and white stemmed from the concept of ink meeting paper, symbolizing the harmonious convergence of disparate elements to create something new. Crociani's artistic vision transcends commercial success; her primary focus lies in the creation of art itself. This dedication to the artistic realm is further exemplified by Crociani's participation in a collaborative exhibition at the Suzanne Tarasieve Gallery in Paris, showcasing her work until March 8th
