A group of advocates says a disparity between available shelter beds and the number of people in need is a main motivator for a new lawsuit. Watch at 6pm for more on today's PointInTimeCount, which helps raise awareness and collect data on homelessness.
A contingent attended the Tuesday, Jan. 24 public meeting to voice concerns over potential sweeps of homeless encampments.
"This action challenges the City of Tucson's anticipated efforts to hide the region's unhouse population from public view by trespassing them from the public parks in the coming weeks. The lawsuit is asking the court to prevent future sweeps of encampments, and the prevent police from enforcing city ordinances criminalizing homelessness.
