suspect is expected to appear at the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court today. The suspect’s arrest is in relation to an incident that occurred in February 2024, when Dylan Kannemeyer, another accused in this matter, allegedly submitted false documentation to Halfway Ford in Goodwood. This was for vehicle finance on a Ford Ranger, to the value of R679 895.
An investigation conducted by the Hawks revealed that Kannemeyer allegedly collaborated with other accomplices to produce fraudulent documents. He was subsequently arrested on 9 May along with another suspect, aged 46, and a search was launched for his accomplices. Three more fraudulent vehicle finance applications were uncovered by the Hawks that were processed by him and other accomplices, currently classified as persons of interest to the investigation, which resulted in ‘an estimated financial loss of R1.5 million’.
Kannemeyer was out on bail and appeared at Goodwood Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 15 May, joined by another co-accused, Muhammed Ameer Abrahams .The other suspect, aged 46, who was arrested together with Muhammed, was not enrolled at court on this matter, as he had ‘a warrant of arrest on another matter’ in Athlone.
