Adam Scott recalls had a weird snub from Rider Strong on Boy Meets World. 'I give you a high five, and I go in and hug you. And as I do that, you push me off and you give me this look like, 'Wait a second, who the f*** are you?' and then you ran away.'

Adam Scott recalls an inexplicable snub during his time as a new and young actor filming Boy Meets World. A coming-of-age sitcom that helped define its era and teen culture overall, Boy Meets World ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000.

The iconic show followed central protagonist Cory Matthews from adolescence to adulthood, ending with Cory’s departure from Philadelphia to intern in New York. The show later spawned the sequel series Girl Meets World, which featured both Cory and Danielle Fishel’s Topanga Matthews as the lead character’s parents, and ran from 2014 to 2017 on Disney Channel. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Scott, who starred in four episodes of Boy Meets World, shares on Pod Meets World how he was snubbed by Rider Strong, who portrayed Shawn Hunter in the series. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pod Meets World He recalls how after the end of filming the season 2 finale, everyone was cheering and exchanging high fives and hugs. Scott then approached Strong to say congratulations; while going in for a hug, Strong then pushed him off and ran away, seemingly weirded out by Scott. Scott jokes that it was a “traumatic” and “horrifying” experience that had been tugging at him for years. Check out more of his story below: The scene ends. Everyone just erupts and starts cheering. Blake and Ethan high five and hug, they come up to me and high five and just cheering. Then Blake and Ethan go up to you, Rider, and they give you a high five and hug you and, after they do that, I'm like, 'Hey, congratulations, buddy,' and I give you a high five, and I go in and hug you. And as I do that, you push me off and you give me this look like, 'Wait a second, who the f*** are you?' and then you ran away. Related: Brittany Murphy's Boy Meets World Character Explained Adam Scott's Boy Meets World Role Explained Scott played two roles during his Boy Meets World run, first as Senior and later as Griff Hawkins, to replace Danny McNulty’s Harley Keiner. A smooth-talking bully, Scott’s Griff was memorable for using his charm and wits to escape obligations and punishments. He accepts Joey and Frankie — formerly loyal to Harley — as his lackeys and makes enemies with Mr. Feeny . His antics included paying a student to pose as him during classes, arranging after-school hours fights, and stealing stationery. After Harley returns and Joey and Frankie decide to quit their lackey work, Griff walks off unfazed, marking his last appearance. In Girl Meets World, his character is referenced in an award given by Cory, titled the “Griff Hawkins Totally Cool Award.” Portraying an ambiguous character who is both likable and infuriating, Griff was the first indicator of Scott’s undeniable talent. His run on Boy Meets World helped jumpstart his career as his first significant television role. Since then, Scott has been known for his roles in series like Parks and Recreation and Big Little Lies, as well as movies like Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Scott’s ability to traverse genres like comedy, drama, and horror has long been underrated, but speaks to his versatility as an actor. His current work on the critically acclaimed AppleTV+ series Severance has garnered him a well-deserved Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Scott was finally able to gain some closure about his time on Boy Meets World, when the Pod Meets World hosts confirmed that no cast member disliked him; and not only did Strong not recall the incident, he seemed puzzled at his past behavior towards Scott. His guest appearance is a treat for previous Boy Meets World viewers, who may have forgotten that the actor starred in the show before his later success. In addition to anticipating his return as Severance’s Mark Scout, audiences can look forward to seeing Scott in a season 3 revival of Party Down, which is scheduled for a February 24 release.
