PUTRAJAYA: Businessman Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad will appear in court for the third time to face one charge of corruption linked to the Jana Wibawa programme.The 42-year-old will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 9am today.
On Feb 21, he claimed trial in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to a charge of soliciting bribes for himself and another charge of receiving bribes.Besides Adam Radlan, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and businessman Datuk Teo Wee Cheng were also charged with corruption linked to the programme.
Wan Saiful, 48, who is the Tasek Gelugor MP, claimed trial to two charges of corruption involving some RM6.9mil.On Feb 22, the 65-year-old Teo pleaded not guilty in the Johor Baru Sessions Court to nine counts of asking and receiving bribes worth RM12.8mil, also linked to the programme. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating allegations regarding the Jana Ekonomi Pemerkasaan Kontraktor Bumiputra Berwibawa or Economic Recovery of Authorised Bumiputra Contractors programme.
The MACC investigation was to look into allegations that the chosen contractors then had allegedly deposited RM300mil into the Bersatu party account. The Jana Wibawa programme was set up in November 2020 to empower bumiputra contractors struggling during the Covid-19 pandemic.
