Rochester, N.Y. - A national nonprofit is bringing awareness and support for children living with diabetes on Friday.
Part of the American Diabetes Association, Camp Aspire teamed up with the Rochester Americans for the ROC the Riverway event at Blue Cross Arena, Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, where the Amerks wore Rochester-inspired specialty jerseys. The Amerks wore Rochester-inspired specialty jerseys, which will be up for auction the week of the game, with the proceeds going to Camp Aspire.
"Where children can go for a week and live like a normal child, and really get the sense of community and connection with the other campers, with our counselors," said Jeff Collins, the executive director of the American Diabetes Association Upstate New York. "While learning how to manage their diabetes confidently and in a safe space.
Since 1949, Camp Aspire has hosted thousands of children living with diabetes, offering a unique blend of adventure, education, and mentorship. 13WHAM is a proud sponsor of the Finger Lakes Tour de Cure, which takes place at Stokoe Farms on June 7th and raises money for the ADA.
