Actress, producer, and entrepreneur Tia Mowry was finally diagnosed with endometriosis in 2006 after being overlooked by doctors. Mowry's experience has inspired her latest venture, Anser, a line of high-quality dietary supplements.
“I didn’t just stop at one doctor. I was in and out of emergency rooms. I saw maybe three or four different doctors and a family practitioner. I was advised to go to a specialist and that’s when I was able to get a proper diagnosis. Sometimes, when you go to a family doctor, they don’t know the specifics within a certain area or issue. My family practitioner didn’t even mention endometriosis,” Mowry explained.
Dr. Gina Charles, a board-certified family physician and women’s health advocate, agrees. “If you don't understand something, speak up and ask as many questions as you need to understand the full scope of your condition. Be relentless in your pursuit of finding the answers and solutions to ailments. Get that second opinion. Bring a close friend or a family member to your doctor’s appointments.
