Activists calling for an end to sand extraction and for the public ownership of Lough Neagh have taken the fight to Lord Shaftesbury's hometown in England.
Joanna says the group has now teamed up with Friends of the Earth in Northern Ireland, which campaigned for an end to decades of unlawful sand extraction from Lough Neagh until the government stepped in and the sand traders involved were forced to apply for planning permission which was eventually granted.
"We went to Wimborne St Giles and... processed across the village green. We unfurled a banner which said ‘nature is dying'." She added: "Our demands are that we stop sand extraction immediately and allow public ownership of Lough Neagh.
