An “active shooter” went on a rampage Monday evening through multiple sites on the campus of Michigan State University, killing at least one person and claiming other “victims.”
MSU spokeswoman Emily Guerrant confirmed to the Detroit News that there was one fatality from that first shooting site. MSU Police and Public Safety tweeted Monday evening that “it appears there is only one suspect at this time.” He was at-large, traveling on foot more than an hour after the first shots were reported.The campus police reported that “victims” are currently being transported to Sparrow Hospital.”
Citing “police scanner traffic,” the student newspaper State News said shots were fired or heard at up to seven sites. Campus police said they had secured numerous campus buildings.
