Cholota landed back on home soil earlier this week, where she is expected to stand trial with her former boss and ACT leader in the Free State asbestos case.
JOHANNESBURG - The African Congress for Transformation has hit out at what it calls the Hollywood-style extradition of Ace Magashule's former PA Moroadi Cholota.
She was initially meant to be a key witness for the state in its case against Magashule but she backtracked on the agreement. She's now expected to answer to what she knows about the dodgy R255-million contract to identify and eradicate asbestos roofing in low-cost houses when Magashule was Free State premier.
While the ACT said that it does not agree with how Cholota has been treated, Spokesperson Mohau Khumalo said that the party hopes the matter will be settled soon. "Ms. Cholota does not pose any threat to anyone and did not merit the mistreatment she received. The police's grandiose arrival at the OR Tambo International Airport was only a theatrical display intended to scare an innocent woman who happens to be a mother. Regrettably, this occurrence takes place during the month dedicated to women and on the eve of International Women's Day," he said.
