Christian Peacox tops four candidates for the city treasurer position

Carlsbad’s Nov. 5 election results remained unchanged with the latest update released Thursday from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters Office.

Kevin Shin led his only opponent, Tyler Collins, by a little more than 16 percentage points for the District 2 council seat held by Councilmember Carolyn Luna. Luna is a former planning commissioner appointed to fill a vacancy with the understanding that she would not seek election to the seat this year.

Collins, a software engineer, said public safety, housing and quality of life were his top issues. As a council member he would prioritize the needs of the community and focus on practical solutions for everyday, quality-of-life issues such as traffic, he said. The city treasurer, like the council members, serves a four-year term. The officeholder oversees the management of the city’s cash and invested public funds.
