David Robinson, grandson of one of the founders of Acme Markets, is selling the last remaining portion of his family's farmland in Pennsylvania.

Westtown Township combined federal, county, and local taxpayer funds, along with private donations, to preserve a portion of the Chester County farm as a passive recreation park. The fields and old horse barns at Crebilly, the soon-to-be-former home of Acme heir David Robinson's family, are part of the preserved land. After Horsham-based Toll Bros.

abandoned its project to build hundreds of homes on the property, Westtown Township implemented tax increases and received donations from du Pont heirs and others to purchase 206 acres for the park. The remaining portion will be sold as four small estates. Three Robinson brothers, immigrants from Ulster, Ireland, co-founded Acme Markets in 1917 and built what became one of the Delaware Valley's wealthiest families. The Robinsons invested a portion of their profits into comfortable family estates in the gentle hills west of the city. At their peak, the family's real estate holdings spanned over two square miles, roughly the combined size of West Chester and Media. Now, grandson David Robinson is selling the last of the family's Pennsylvania acres — a half-square mile of Crebilly, south of West Chester, featuring its pastures, former cornfields, white-walled show-horse and cattle barns, houses constructed from native green serpentine stone, and a springhouse repurposed as a chapel after a tree fell upon it. Robinson expresses astonishment at the $100,000 per acre — $20.8 million — his family is receiving for the two-thirds of the property, which will become a Westtown Township park. This price, he states, aligns closely with the appraisal and exceeds offers from private developers. During an interview in the wood-beamed, high-ceilinged living room of the family home, which he and his wife will soon vacate, Robinson notes that the remaining 104 acres, divided into four large lots — mini-estates — with conservation easements restricting construction, are available for separate purchase. Robinson anticipates a swift sale, stating that there has been significant interest
