Jerry Kao, the brand’s COO, took to the stage with Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel, in order to make that very announcement and even showed off one of the laptops powered by the new Meteor Lake processor. Unfortunately, the on-stage presentation was a broad and ambiguous one, devoid of any extra details, including which SKU was being showed off on stage.
As for what was demonstrated, Intel and Acer basically wanted to show off the prowess of Meteor Lake’s newest feature and module, the built-in NPU. To that end, the presentation involved the laptop and its equipped processor rendering a 3D image of a spacesuit in a sort of stable diffusion scenario, doing a ballet pose, based on an image of a ballerina in the background. All this took a mere handful of seconds for it to complete.
We already know the general specifications Meteor Lake. The new mobile CPU is based on the new Intel 4 process node and made with EUV technology. It is also the first processor to be made using Intel’s new Foveros 3D packaging, sporting a new P-Core and E-Core microarchitecture. More importantly, it is also the first CPU in the chipmaker’s history to have integrated graphics cores based on the brand’s own ARC Alchemist GPU architecture.
We actually saw a technical demo of the integrated GPU in Meteor Lake earlier, during the Intel Tech Tour earlier, but sadly, at the time, Intel didn’t allow us to delve any further than what was just being shown off. Hopefully, the company and its brand partners will be able to provide us with a laptop sporting its new flagship processor and before its launch date of 14 December.
