Daniel Penny, accused of killing homeless subway performer Jordan Neely in an incident videoed back in May 2023, arrived at Manhattan Criminal Court for a
“You are a disgrace to the Marine Corps,” the unidentified heckler told Penny, the discharged veteran flanked by an army of court officers as he was rushed into the courthouse to face a judge.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg later brought up Penny via grand jury indictments on second-degree manslaughter and negligent charges. While Penny claims he did not set out to kill Neely, he will be forced to prove that during a widely publicized trial set to start on Oct. 23 of this year.“You are a disgrace to the marine corp!” Those are the first words Daniel Penny heard from a heckler as he arrived at criminal court Thursday for a pre-trial hearing.
