Consulting firm Accenture is set to acquire Partners in Performance, in the most significant consulting market deal in nearly five years.

The major consulting firms are serial acquirers of boutique competitors, with an eventual buyout built into the strategy of many independent firms founded by big firm alumni.

But not all the firm’s acquisitions have successfully integrated into the US-listed multinational. Almost all staff from economic consultant turned Labor MP Andrew Charlton’s consultancy AlphaBeta have departed since the boutique was bought for a significant but undisclosed sum – believed to be tens of millions – in 2020.
