Schnitzer has been tuning BMWs since the 80s - it's not stopping now
is not the most exciting car in the world to look at. There have been bold 5 Series in the past and design masterpiece 5s as well; this eighth generation car doesn’t really register as either. It’s fine to look at, just a bit plain. Those after a bit more visual impact from the new 5 Series will be pleased to know, then, that AC Schnitzer already has parts available.
Performance upgrades to ‘significantly increase driving pleasure’ are set to follow in due course; with so much of the, there’s likely more work involved than turning up the boost on a turbo six as may once have been. But Schnitzer does already have bits available to create a bit more attitude, including lowering springs, decals, interior parts and a bodykit. Maybe there won’t be many desperate to tinker with their £50k executive saloon just yet, but it’s something to talk about.
New flow-formed wheels, a set of 20mm spacers and lowering springs make the difference here, the whole car a lot more muscular as a result. Schnizter says the work also makes for ‘perfect cornering’. Note as well the front splitter, side skirts and rear spoilers, which take a bit of the bulk out of the first five-metre 5 Series. Like almost every AC Schnitzer build ever, too, there will be new pedals available for the interior.
Not much to go on for the moment, then, but a start; with the M versions of this 5 Series set to be more expensive and more complex than ever, there may be some folk who fancy a simpler approach to making a sportier saloon. And who don’t really like what’s offered by the
