Absolute Wonder Woman Featured
The Absolute Universe, launching as part of DC's All In Initiative, is aimed at presenting bold reinventions of iconic characters, and Wonder Woman is set to be among the first to receive the Absolute treatment. Leading up to its release in October, DC Comics just revealed a collection of jaw-dropping variant covers for Absolute Wonder Woman #1.
Highlights This stunning artwork by Jim Lee features a Wonder Woman far removed from the Diana readers have come to know, offering a terrifying new take on one of DC's greatest superheroes. Absolute Wonder Woman Shows Off Her Epic New Weapon Cover Art by Hayden Sherman, Dan Panosian, Jeff Dekal, and Wes Craig Close One of Wonder Woman's most iconic features is her Lasso of Truth, an unbreakable lasso of gold that compels her enemies to reveal truths. It's a symbol of Diana's unwavering dedication to the truth and a staple of her character. Instead of her trademark Lasso of Truth, however, this new version of Wonder Woman wields a giant sword.
This weapon isn't where the departures end. As stated in the solicitation for Absolute Wonder Woman #1, this version of Diana doesn't have Themyscira as part of her lore. Without Themyscira, Wonder Woman lacks a community of Amazonian sisters, setting the stage for a lonelier, darker take on the character. This tone is set with the new cover art, which features a Wonder Woman who is ready for battle, a far cry from her usual peaceful demeanor.
