Mac’s Backs will host Ignatz nominated comics creators Lily Thu Fierro and Generoso Fierro for a reading of their latest comic, Absolute Simultaneity, along with a discussion around experimental comics.
Lily Thu Fierro and Generoso Fierro create and self-publish experimental comics that combine Lily’s training and research as a computational cognitive scientist at MIT with Generoso’s visual eye as a painter, film reviewer, and award-winning film curator. Both are constantly thinking about new storytelling methods to make comics that are experiential yet grounded in narrative. Their comic, Inversion, was nominated for a 2023 Ignatz Award in the Outstanding Story category.
