MANILA — ABS-CBN Corp and its 16 subsidiaries created over 24,000 jobs in 2019 alone, an official of the media giant told lawmakers Tuesday, as the company makes its case before Congress for a fresh 25-year broadcast franchise.

"So, ang total po nitong [2 reports] is 24,275. What is the significance of this number po? This number shows the number of jobs ABS-CBN creates within a year. So for the year 2019, ABS-CBN created 24,275 jobs," Nepomuceno said. "We submit two BIR reports annually that cover our headcount... So, for the entire group po, 'yung all 17 companies, 'yung 1604-CF showed that we had 8,809 regular and project employees. 'Yun pong 1604-E showed that we had 15,466 independent suppliers and contractors po," Nepomuceno said.

ABS-CBN has repeatedly said it was fully compliant with labor laws, citing the Department of Labor and Employment's final order of inspection dated January 28 this year.
