🤯 Ex-Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was reportedly secretly pumping £103 million into another side during his time at Stamford Bridge. SLInt MORE:
, the Russian billionaire secretly bankrolled Eredivisie side Vitesse, with the English publication alleging that the former Blues owner covered the Dutch side's 2010 takeover as well as their subsequent transfers in the proceeding years.
Their evidence is said to originate from a cache of leaked information known as"the Oligarch files", with the secret backing happening through a number of entities registered through various tax havens across the world. Vitesse's takeover in 2010 was headed by former Georgia attacking midfielder Merab Jordania, whom the Netherlands' Football Association has reportedly been monitoring since the takeover was successful because of his ties to Abramovich, and things became even more suspicious after the Georgian was succeeded by his associate, Russian businessman Alexander Chigirinsky.
After the takeover, Vitesse became a partner club of the west Londoners, taking a few of their players on loan, most notably Nemanja Matic and Mason Mount. The same report suggests that the tax havens used by Abramovich were not transparent and evaded the Dutch authorities on two occasions.
