ABC has cancelled the upcoming season of 'The Bachelorette' starring Taylor Frankie Paul, just before its premiere due to a newly released video. The decision comes after Paul's 2023 arrest and charges related to domestic violence, and a concerning altercation video involving her and her ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen.

ABC has cancelled the upcoming season of The Bachelorette , starring Taylor Frankie Paul , due to a newly released video from 2023. This unexpected decision to scrap the already filmed season of the long-running reality television show occurred just days before its scheduled premiere, originally slated for this Sunday.

A Disney Entertainment Television spokesperson stated, In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family. The statement directly references a 2023 video featuring an altercation between Paul and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen, which was made public by TMZ on Thursday. Paul faced arrest in 2023, charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses, including domestic violence in the presence of a child. She subsequently pleaded guilty that August to a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault, with the other charges being dismissed. A police spokesperson in Draper City, Utah, confirmed to People magazine the existence of an active domestic assault investigation involving both Paul and Mortensen, indicating that allegations have been made by both parties. The Draper City Police Department later verified the accuracy of People's report to CBS News on Thursday evening. Mortensen is the father of one of Paul's three children. In a statement released Thursday night, a spokesperson for Paul expressed her gratitude for ABC's support as she prioritizes her family's safety and security. The statement further detailed, After years of silently enduring extensive mental and physical abuse, alongside threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally finding the strength to confront her accuser and is taking steps to ensure her children and herself are shielded from any further harm. The statement continues, There are too many women suffering in silence while enduring aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to allow them to move forward with their lives. The statement concluded with Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation, and public shaming. She is currently exploring all her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story. Representatives for Mortensen did not immediately respond to requests for comment. ABC's statement did not provide details on the network's plans for the show's time slot
