Perfetti portrays Jacob, a history teacher whose relationship with boyfriend Zach has been explored on occasion, but during a recent Abbott Elementary season 3 episode, it was revealed that Jacob and Zach broke up. In an interview with Screen Rant, Perfetti discussed the break-up between his character and Zach. The actor explained that, while unexpected, he’s eager to see what lies ahead for Jacob and teased that Zach may continue to appear on the show. So yeah, my first reaction was, honestly, a little sad, just because I love playing with Larry so much. I was kind of curious if this would mean less of him. I think I can safely say that it's not the end of this character. Gregory and others noticed that Jacob was becoming more sociable, and while hanging out, Perfetti’s character revealed that he and Zach were not getting along well, having lost a lot of their spark. Though he was hesitant to leave Zach, Jacob finally confronted his boyfriend about their relationship, and the conversation was surprisingly emotional.
