Aaron Taylor-Johnson responds to James Bond casting rumors. 'It’s flattering. You can have something really positive [written about you], but you can also have something really negative that can circulate.'
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has responded to rumors that he will be cast as the next James Bond actor. Since his appearance as a charismatic British assassin in Bullet Train, Taylor-Johnson's name has been thrown into the ring to potentially take over the role. The casting for one of cinema's most iconic characters is always a hot topic of discussion with theories of who will step into Craig's shoes.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Taylor-Johnson was asked about the rumors that he is in talks to play James Bond. This follows the buzz that emerged after he starred in Bullet Train and a reported meeting between him and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. Taylor-Johnson's response can be read below: SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY It’s flattering. You can have something really positive [written about you], but you can also have something really negative that can circulate. You just want to stay in your lane, stay grounded, stay around the people that you love and love you back, and stay in that world. Because the moment you start believing the sh*t people say about you, you’ve lost your f*cking mind. You’ve lost it.
Taylor-Johnson fits the bill of a new Bond. Combining the fact that he is British and young enough to carry the franchise for years to come fits what is reportedly desired for the role. He has also proven himself to be a captivating actor capable of taking on the role of an assassin as seen in Bullet Train. Speculation of who will take over the role has been up for discussion since Craig announced he was stepping away in 2019.
The question remains as to who Broccoli and the Bond team consider to be suitable for their reinvention of James Bond and if Taylor-Johnson is the one they are looking for. Speculation will have to continue as filming is not rumored to begin until 2024 at the earliest.
