Aaron Rodgers tests positive for coronavirus, is expected to miss Packers’ next game
Rodgers will be in isolation for 10 days under league protocols and can rejoin the Packers at that point if he remains symptom-free, according to one of those people.
That person would not directly address Rodgers’s vaccination status, but the conditions of the quarterback’s return appear to confirm that Rodgers is unvaccinated.Under the protocols, which were developed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association, an unvaccinated player must remain in isolation for 10 days following a positive test result. The player, if asymptomatic, can return to the team setting after that 10-day isolation.
Other Packers players were told Wednesday about Rodgers’s positive test result, according to another person with knowledge of the matter.Packers third-string quarterback Kurt Benkert reportedly tested positive for the virus earlier this week.

There is no vaccine mandate for players. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, said last week that 94.1 percent of players leaguewide were vaccinated. Sills said that the league remained intent upon working with the NFLPA to achieve a 100 percent player-vaccination rate. He said the NFL’s protocols are working well this season but the league, in his view, had to remain vigilant without any immediate consideration of relaxing coronavirus-related restrictions.
