Calling the Yankees’ player development “terrible” is more of a loaded comment, though. Time stamps show that Schenck posted his tweet during the fifth inning on Thursday, the same frame in which catcher Austin Wells and first baseman Ben Rice hit booming solo home runs. Both of those lefties are former draft picks by the Yankees that developed within the farm system and are now producing at the big-league level.
When a reporter pulled up the tweet on his phone and showed it to Judge, he insisted that he didn’t have a problem with the comment because he has no control over what another person does or says.
