The New York Jets have appointed Aaron Glenn, former defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, as their new head coach. Glenn, a former NFL cornerback, brings a wealth of experience to the Jets after leading Detroit's defense to a strong season. The hiring comes amidst a period of transition for the Jets, who are also seeking a new quarterback after Aaron Rodgers' future remains uncertain.
The New York Jets have hired Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their head coach, according to NFL Network and ESPN. Glenn, 52, has been the Lions’ defensive coordinator since 2021. He was a cornerback in the NFL for 15 seasons, from 1994 to 2008, mostly with the Jets and the Houston Texans. New York fired head coach Robert Saleh in October after a 2-3 start and replaced him on an interim basis with Jeff Ulbrich.
“I think everybody understands that it’s going to come down to a GM and a coach and myself and whether we all want to do a dance together or if it’s not in the cards,” Rodgers said on 'The Pat McAfee Show' this month. New York has the No. 7 pick in April's NFL draft. Glenn began his coaching career in 2014 as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Cleveland Browns.
