Aaron Civale looked great in his return, but Cleveland couldn't score a run on Friday night.

The Twins won it on Jorge Polanco’s two-out double in the seventh off Nick Sandlin for the only run of the game. The switch-hitting Polanco drove Sandlin’s 1-1 pitch off the wall in right to score Kyle Farmer.

“Val told me, ‘Do you have any suggestions,’” said manager Terry Francona. “I said, ‘I’m glad I’m not the hitting guy.’ That’s some pretty filthy stuff.” Cleveland did mount a threat in the fifth as Will Brennan and Myles Straw hit consecutive singles with one out. But Ober retired Cam Gallagher and Kwan to end the inning.

The Guardians’ best scoring in the early going came with two out in the first. Jose Ramirez sent a drive to deep left field that Willi Castro caught against the wall.
